Help me get a job

How we can help?

Let us help you get into work.

Your first step is to come and talk to us

We’ll spend time with you to find out what you want to do, and what experience you have.

We will help you identify anything that may be getting in the way of you finding work or getting the job that you really want.

What you will get.

We will work with you to build and develop a plan of action which could include:

  • Linking you up with local employers to fill a job role or an ERA contract
  • Additional training to fill skills gaps
  • Opportunities to get involved in local community projects and collect points that you can exchange for goods and services
  • Helping you access other services and support, such as housing or debt advice

Here's how it works.

Register with us.

You can register with ERA online by creating an account and submitting your CV but we really want to get to know you so we will get in touch with you to arrange a time to have a proper chat.

If you don’t have a CV, don’t worry – get in touch and we can help you with that and at the same time have a chat about what kind of work you are looking for.

We help you train.

Helping you to gain the skills you need to be successfully employed

It can be a vicious circle that you don’t have the specific skills or qualifications you need for a job you would like, but the cost of getting these qualifications is beyond what you can afford, especially if you are unemployed.

We can help in a number of ways:

  1. We work with you to identify what skills and qualifications would be most useful to you in your job search
  2. We have access to some funded training we can put you on
  3. If the qualification needs to be paid for, you can get involved in a community project, collect points for your efforts and then exchange your points for training

We match up jobs.

We work closely with local companies and businesses to find out what opportunities they have and what they are looking for in their workers – this how we help to fill local job opportunities with skilled and motivated workers.

By working closely with employers we can match you with the opportunities, or help you get the skills employers are looking for. Forcing people into jobs they are not suited or qualified for only results in unhappy workers and employers, so we make sure both sides are happy.

Community Projects.

Working to do something positive in the community

If there are no immediate job opportunities we have many local community projects and opportunities that you can get involved in and gain experience or build your confidence.

You will collect points throughout your involvement which can be redeemed against products and services at local businesses, such as cinema tickets, hairdressing, beauty treatments and gym membership.

You can also use your points against the cost of any specific bespoke training you may want that will help you find your dream job.

And, as all this experience is recorded as social action, it is a great addition you can put on your CV and job applications.

Our points based rewards system is called Zlto, originally developed in the Cape Flats area of South Africa. ERA is one of the first organisations in the UK to work with RLabs to adapt it for use in this country.

is an easy way for people to collect points by doing good things so that they can buy the things they need.

is a valuable way of getting people involved in local community projects.  Members can collect points, develop confidence and valuable work skills and experience.

We support you.

ERA is a new type of employment agency.

It brings together all the services you need to help you get into paid work and develop your career. We understand there are barriers to finding and keeping in work that you may need help with. It could be a lack of skills or specific training; low self-confidence or other worries such as financial problems or issues with the hours you are able to work.
